We take you to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital, the lost citadel of Machu Picchu, the mythical Sacred Valley of the Incas, Puno and the spectacular Lake Titicaca, Arequipa and its colonial architecture.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Lima

International flight. You meet one of our staff members at the airport. Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel.

Day 2Arrival in Cusco

Transfer to Lima airport to take the flight to Cusco. Airport pick-up and transfer to the hotel where we get time to rest so our bodies can adjust to the altitude. Free afternoon, we recommend resting and eating light. Night at the hotel.

Day 3Cusco market, Qoriqancha, Qenqo, Sacsayhuaman and Pisac

After breakfast, we walk through the city center with our guide and reach San Pedro market, where we feel the typical Andean flavors, aromas and colors. We get back to the city center to visit Qoricancha or sun temple, the most important temple of the Inca Empire. Then, using private transportation, we visit Sacsayhuaman fortress and Qenqo, a temple dedicated to the snake God who is the creator of life in Andean cosmology. During our walk, we stop in a textile workshop and meet alpacas, lamas and vicuñas. We continue up to Pisac, famous for its colorful handcraft market and its archeological site with great walls, palaces and towers, all made of huge stone blocs. Night in the Sacred Valley.

Day 4Mountain biking in Maras and Moray

We pick you up at 9:00am from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley. Transfer to Cruz Pata where we start cycling until Moray archaeological site. There we can appreciate the ancient Inca agriculture techniques. We then head to Maras town, where we start our descent till Maras Salt Ponds and finally Urubamba. From there we are transferred to Ollantaytambo and take the train to Aguas Calientes. Night at the hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 5Machu Picchu

At dawn we embark on a dream. We take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and enter the “lost city.” For the more adventurous there is also the possibility to climb to the top of Huayna Picchu or visit the Machu Picchu Mountain or the Huchuy Picchu. In the afternoon we take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy, and then the bus to make our way back to Cusco. Night at the hotel.

Day 6Vía ferrata, lunch at Sky Lodge and zip line

We get picked up from our hotel in Urubamba to go to Via Ferrata in the Sacred Valley. After a security briefing and review, we begin our climb in the afternoon over a 400m rock wall, with a harness, enjoying the breathtaking landscape.
Lunch at the Sky Lodge’s restaurant that has transparent windows so that you can enjoy stunning views of the valley below us.
After lunch, we start our descent at full speed with the zipline, always fully secured. A pleasant 30-minute walk will take us to the first of the seven lines of the zipline. Cables range from 150 to 700m long. 2800m of fun in total
We get back to Cusco in the afternoon. Night in hotel.

Day 7Rafting

We get picked up from our hotel in Cusco at 8:45, and begin our journey of approximately 1 hour and 15min by bus until we reach the Urubamba River. During the ride, and once we arrive at the river, our specialized guide explains everything we need to know about safety, gears and equipment, navigation, rapids, etc. Once we are ready we get into the river. We first practice rowing to later face class 2 and class 3 rapids for a total of 2.5hours of navigation. Once the adventure is over we change our clothes and enjoy lunch, and return to Cusco at around 5:00pm.

Day 9Palccoyo, Alternative Rainbow Mountain

At 6am, we get picked up to start our trip to the alternative Rainbow Mountain of Palccoyo, located approximately 100 km away from Cusco.
After a 4-hour journey by private transport, we reach the starting point of our gentle hike, which goes from 4700m to 4900m.
We walk for about an hour and a half in the surroundings of the rainbow mountain. On our way back, we have lunch in a family restaurant located in Cusipata. Return to Cusco expected around 18.00. Night at the hotel.
Note> if you wish so, you can visit Vinicunca instead of Palccoyo. It is the most famous rainbow mountain. But it is also much more touristy. Besides, the hike to Vinicunca is more strenuous (from 4600 to 5100 m). Between them, we recommend you Palccoyo because it is more “intimate”.

Day 8Free Day in Cusco and "Myths&Legends" tour

Free day to walk around the beautiful city of Cusco. Some must-see places we recommend: MAP (Museum of Pre-Columbian Art); San Francisco Convent; and the quaint neighborhood of San Blas. In the evening we go on a cultural and alternative walking tour. Strolling under the stars through the historic city center, we discover a less-known side of Cusco: myths, legends, tales, ghosts and saints. A unique experience to see the real Cusco, Peru’s iconic city. Night at the hotel.

Day 10The Road to Puno

We get picked up at 06:15 from the hotel and begin our journey towards the city of Puno. The comfortable touristic bus (including heating, air conditioning, chemical bathroom, DVD, on board service, and buffet lunch in Sicuani) will make several stops during the journey: Andahuaylillas, Rajchi, and Pukara. Pick-up from the bus station in Puno. Night at the hotel.

Day 11Kayak on Lake Titicaca

Pick-up from the hotel in Puno and we take a boat till Llachón. Once in Llachón, you get a security briefing about the kayak and then we head to Taquile. A unique experience. During the way, you can enjoy the crystal clear water of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world 3.800m). At the arrival in Taquile, we will have some time to explore the island. Lunch in Taquile. We get back to Llachon in Kayak and from there to Puno. Night at the hotel.

Day 12Trip to Arequipa

Free day, ideal to visit Uros floating islands or Sillustani funeral complex. Transfer to Puno bus station in the afternoon. Trip Puno – Arequipa (around 6 hours). Pick up from the bus station in Arequipa and transfer to the hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 13Arequipa, The White City

Free day in Arequipa, “The White City.” A few spots you cannot miss: Santa Catalina Convent, Museum of mummy Juanita, and the delicious traditional dishes of Arequipa. Night at the hotel.

If your international flight arrives in Lima in the morning, please note that the room is available from 3 pm. You can then leave your luggage in the hotel luggage storage for free, but you cannot enter the room before the check-in time. In this case we recommend to include a room available from the moment of your arrival, with an extra cost.
PeruEtico does not directly organize the group trips described in the program. We work with selected local and professional agencies.
Qoricancha: it is closed on Sunday; if the city tour of Cusco coincides with this day of the week, you can visit the archaeological site yourself during the free day.
Machu Picchu: travelers are limited to a 20lt/5kg backpack; the rest of your luggage is to be left in custody at the hotel in Cusco or Urubamba.
Palccoyo: we reach 4900 meters above sea level so you will feel the altitude. We recommend you walk slowly. This tour is only for fit people. During the rainy season (from December to March), it is not always possible to visit Palccoyo due to bad weather. If necessary, this tour will be replaced by an excursion to the Huatanay Valley (south of Cusco), including Tipón, Piñipampa Pikillaqta.
MB Maras/Moray: cross country difficulty.
Kayak on Lake Titicaca: the return kayak trip takes 6h.
Housing in Taquile is very basic. Rooms are cozy and there are enough thick blankets to keep you warm. Bathrooms are located outside the house.
In Arequipa, the hotel checkout time is 11:00. Luggage can be left in the hotel storage. (To keep the room for the rest of the day there is an extra charge of 30 USD per person).
As from the arrival in Peru, the passenger is responsible for any additional costs caused by a variation in the program (net cost plus agency rights).

Justine & Andrea

Couple Traveller

Although they offer predefined packages of varying length on their website, we have nevertheless been able to customize the trip at will (Adventure package) with great willingness on their part. The trip was also organized in a precise and precise manner. In view of each move or new activity, a briefing was always organized the previous day to explain in detail the activity / excursion. Furthermore, the chosen hotels are of a good category and the guides who have assigned us have proved to be very competent. We therefore recommend all those who want to discover Peru to choose them!

Family Traveller

We have been back in Italy for less than 24 hours and we want to share this wonderful 15-day experience. We are two families with three children (7, 11 and 15 years). PeruEtico has allowed us to discover the wonderful Peru, having fun and mostly entertaining our children. we “climbed” the Huayna Picchu, rafted along the Vilcanota, crossed the Inca path, traveled by bike along the Vilcanota, slept in a family in Lake Titicaca, cooked and savored the Peruvian dishes at Tina’s home in Ollantaytambo and much more, in all this the staff of PeruEtico has accompanied us with an impeccable organization, different guides, specific for the different activities done, all beautiful and true . Thanks Gianni, thanks PeruEtico!
