Salar de Uyuni Bolivia – Viaggi e Tour Responsabili PerùEtico

We will set off from the beautiful city of Sucre, famous for its temperate climate and architecture, before discovering Potosí with the Cerro Rico silver mine at 4,000 meters above sea level. We will then fly to La Paz to explore its historic center and the Valley of the Moon, Tiwanacu with its massive monoliths, and Lake Titicaca with the local communities on the Islands of the Sun and the Moon.

Next, we will continue to the Salar de Uyuni with its thermal baths and geysers, the Siloli and Dalí deserts, multicolored lagoons, flamingos, Incahuasi Island, and the train cemetery. The journey concludes in Chile, in the heart of the world’s driest desert: San Pedro de Atacama. Here, the striking Valley of the Moon, the powerful Tatio Geysers, and the Andean plateau lagoons await us amidst vibrant colors, quietude, and endless horizons.

Intercontinental flight to Santa Cruz and connecting flight to Sucre. Upon arrival, meeting at the airport with our local representative and transfer to the B&B. The afternoon will be free to rest, allowing for a gradual acclimation to the altitude. We recommend eating light meals.

After breakfast, accompanied by our guide, we will explore the city and its museums. We will visit the central market and the Casa de la Libertad, the historic site where Bolivia’s independence was signed. We will then continue to Recoleta Square to enjoy the viewpoint overlooking the historical center, and discover the ASUR museum with its rich exhibition of indigenous textiles, before concluding with a visit to the church of San Felipe Neri.

Today, we will head toward the “De los Frailes” mountain range in our 4×4 vehicle until reaching the Chataquila Pass at an altitude of 3,600 meters. From this point, we will descend on foot down the other side of the mountain, following a striking pre-Columbian trail and enjoying breathtaking views. After a walk of approximately three hours, we will board the 4×4 again to continue our journey toward the Maragua Crater. In the heart of the crater, we will visit the local village, where the inhabitants, belonging to the Jal’qa culture, craft complex textiles of great interest. Return to Sucre in the evening.

We will depart at dawn for the community of Puka Puka, located approximately 70 kilometers from Sucre. The community lies within the ancestral territory of the Yampara culture, who speak Quechua. The Yamparas are well known across Bolivia for preserving the traditional techniques and production of their exquisite native garments, which they wear with pride during local festivities. In Puka Puka, we will spend the day with a local family who will share their daily routines, culture, and way of life with us. Depending on the time of year, we will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of their traditional cuisine, handmade textile art, or local agricultural techniques. Finally, we will return to Sucre in the evening.

Transfer to the airport in time for your flight to La Paz. Upon arrival, meet our local representative at the airport and transfer to the hotel. The afternoon will be free for rest to allow for further acclimatization to the altitude. We recommend eating light meals.

Today we’ll visit the city of La Paz accompanied by a local guide. There will be no shortage of sights: we will discover the Witches’ Market, the Church of San Francisco, Plaza Murillo, and the colonial street Calle Jaén, before heading toward the striking Valley of the Moon and enjoying a ride on the city’s modern cable cars.

We will depart from La Paz by private transport to visit the Tiwanacu archaeological site, the most important in the country and considered the oldest urban structure in South America, located about two hours from the capital. Together with our guide, we will visit its famous monoliths, the pyramid, the various structures, and the site museum. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey toward Copacabana, the main Bolivian port on Lake Titicaca.

In the morning, we will visit the Basilica de la Virgen Negra, the most visited pilgrimage church in Bolivia, the market, and “El Calvario,” a hill next to the town where offerings are made to Pachamama (Mother Earth), blending Catholic and Andean traditions. Shortly before noon, a transfer will take us in about half an hour to the port of Yampupata, where we will take a private boat to the Island of the Moon. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by a local family at their small hostel and share a typical lunch made with local products. In the afternoon, we will take a walk across the island to visit the ruins of the striking “Temple of the Virgins of the Sun.”

The following day, before dawn (optional), we can join a local fisherman to retrieve the fishing nets set the previous evening. After breakfast, we will travel by boat to the northern side of the Island of the Sun. From there, we will take a half-hour walk to reach the ruins of Chincana, an ancient sacred site of the Inca Empire. We will then return by boat to Yampupata, where our vehicle will be waiting to drive us toward La Paz. In the evening, transfer to the bus station and overnight bus journey from La Paz to Uyuni.

Upon our arrival in Uyuni, we will meet our local representative, who will accompany us to the hotel to rest and have breakfast. Afterward, we will begin our tour, visiting as our first stop the “Train Cemetery,” a reminder of the era when Uyuni was Bolivia’s central railway hub. We will then head toward Colchani, stopping at a local artisan market. Next, we will enter the Salar de Uyuni to visit its salt monuments before traversing this immense white desert to Incahuasi Island, famous for its giant cacti. Here, we can hike to the top of the island to enjoy a 360-degree view of the salt flat. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey heading south across the desert until we reach the village, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a shelter.

We will begin the day by passing through the small Chiguana salt flat, then cross the old railway connecting Uyuni to the Chilean ports. We will observe the Ollagüe volcano, which is still active, before taking the road leading to the lagoons, which we will visit one after another: Laguna Cañapa, Laguna Hedionda, and Laguna Honda. Next, we will cross the Siloli Desert, where we will visit the Stone Tree before reaching the famous Laguna Colorada, populated by thousands of pink flamingos. We will spend the night in a shelter in the village of Huayllajara.

We will depart very early to reach the “Sol de Mañana” geysers at sunrise—at nearly five thousand meters in altitude—during their period of peak activity. Afterward, we will head to the Polques hot springs, where we will have time to relax with a dip in the outdoor pools. We will then cross the border between Bolivia and Chile aboard a shared bus with other tourists until we reach San Pedro de Atacama. Time zone change: Chile is one hour ahead of Bolivia. In the afternoon, a group tour will take us toward the Cordillera de la Sal in the heart of the Atacama Desert, the driest on the planet. Here, we will visit the famous Valley of the Moon to admire the spectacular rock formations shaped by erosion, salt crusts, dunes, and surreal landscapes. We will conclude our excursion enjoying the sunset over the desert.

Today, on a group tour, we will head into the Atacama Desert, making our first stop at Piedras Rojas (Salar de Aguas Calientes), where we will reach an altitude of 4,200 meters to walk among reddish rocks, lagoons, and salt flats. We will then continue with a visit to several lagoons, including Laguna Chaxa, famous for flamingo watching. Finally, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama after a day rich in high-altitude landscapes, wildlife, and spectacular views.

We will wake up before dawn to depart on a group tour to the El Tatio Geysers, one of the most important geothermal fields in the world, located at an altitude of 4,200 meters with over eighty active geysers. At sunrise, as the morning light illuminates the landscape, we will enjoy breakfast and take a walk among steam columns, fumaroles, and bubbling pools—a natural spectacle perfect for capturing stunning photos. On the return journey, we will stop to observe high-mountain wildlife and the typical flora of the Altiplano. We will then have a free afternoon in San Pedro de Atacama before the evening transfer to the airport in Calama. End of services.
