Get to Machu Picchu on foot, using the same path traveled by the Incas more than half a millennium ago. You will walk the beautiful path made of stones, which lead from the gorge of the river Urubamba up to Machu Picchu. The 12km trail starts at km.104 and will take you to the Sun Gate, with a unique view of the citadel.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco to start the “Royal Inca trail”, also called Short Inca Trail. Private transport to Ollantaytambo train station. Train till km 104 where we start our 12km walk till Machu Picchu. We visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba (2270m) and then the famous Wiñaywayna (2650m).
We continue our way until Inti Punku or Sun Gate where we enjoy an amazing view of Machu Picchu. Quick visit of the archaeological complex and then we take the bus to Aguas calientes. Night at the hotel.
We get back to Machu Picchu at dawn. Bus from Aguas calientes to the citadel. Guided tour for about 2h30. For the more adventurous there is also the possibility to climb to the top of Huayna Picchu or visit the Machu Picchu Mountain or the Huchuy Picchu. We take back the train to Ollantaytambo in the afternoon and then have a bus connection to Cusco. Night at the hotel.

The train departs from Aguas Calientes at 4.43pm and your arrival time in Cusco is around 8.30pm. It is possible to take an earlier train (2.55 pm, with arrival time in Cusco around 6.30 pm). It has an additional cost of 25 USD per person.
