Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Lima

International flight. At the arrival in Lima, you meet one of our staff members and are transfered to the hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 2Flight to Jaen and transfer to Chachapoyas

Transfer to the airport and flight to Jaen. At Jaen’s airport, meeting with one of our staff members and transfer to Chachapoyas (a 3-hour trip). Night at the hotel.

Day 3Cable car to Kuelap

We pick you up at the hotel and we head to the fortified citadel of Kuelap with our private vehicle and guide. In Nuevo Tingo, we take a bus transferring us till the cable car boarding station. The cable car brings us to Kuelap, considered as the most important archaeological site of Chachapoyas culture. We have to catch up with more than 1500 years of history! We visit the main buildings of the site, small houses, high and low parts, tower, main temple, south platform, etc.
Lunch and way back to Chachapoyas. Night at the hotel.

Day 4Revash Mausoleum and Leymebamba Museum

We pick you up at the hotel and with head to San Barteleo with our private vehicle and guide. From there we walk around 45 minutes until the Revash Mausoleum. It is a 2-floor complex that has a roof and Chachapoyas iconography as well as paintings representing zoomorphism, anthropomorphism and geometrical forms. We then go to Leymabamba and have lunch. We visit Leymabamba Museum, where we can see 219 mummies exhibited in a perfect state of conservation. We can also have a closer look at looms, ceramics, weapons, musical instruments and a huge collection of khipus. We get back to Chachapoyas. Night at the hotel.

Day 5Gocta waterfall

We pick you up at the hotel and we go to Cocachimba by private tran sport. The town is located an hour away from Chachapoyas and from there we start a 2h30 walk up to Gocta waterfall. On the way we can observe a diverse fauna and flora. We have some free time to enjoy the place and then we get back to Cocachimba for lunch. We reach back Chachapoyas in the afternoon. Room available and night bus to Trujillo (a 14-hour trip) where we arrive on the following day.

Day 6Trujillo

Pick-up from the bus station and transfer to the hotel in Trujillo. Today we discover Trujillo and its colonial houses, as well as the ancient Moche culture. We visit the Archeological Museum, the beautiful churches and the colonial houses of the city center. Then we visit the Sun and Moon “Huaca” located 8km away from town: a Moche commercial center with polychrome walls. Night in Trujillo.

Day 7Chan Chan

After the breakfast we visit Chan Chan, capital city of ancient Chimu kingdom, and the biggest adobe town of pre-Columbian America. Its walls are decorated with animals embossed, as well as other geometrical figures and mythological beings. In the afternoon we get to Dragon “Huaca”, also known as rainbow “Huaca” and the archeological site of “El Briujo”, another amazing example of Moche culture. In the afternoon we visit Huanchaco and get back to Trujillo. Night at the hotel.

Day 8Royal Tumbs of Señor de Sipán

Today we go to Lambayeque up to Chiclayo (a 3-hour trip) to visit the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Señor de Sipán, one of the most beautiful museums in Latin America and a true jewel for those who are history and archeology enthusiasts. Return during the afternoon. Room available and night bus to Mancora (7h) where we arrive on the following day.

Day 9Mancora

On arrival, meeting with one of our staff members at the bus station and transfer to the hotel in Mancora… Sea, palm trees, swimming pool and sun (sunscreen mandatory, equatorial sun is heavy!). Night at the hotel.

Day 10Whales Watching

At 6:40am we are picked up from our hotel to go to Puerto Organos. The Peruvian coastline has the optimal conditions for the courting, mating and reproduction of Humpbakcs whales.
During the boat tour, we’ll have the opportunity to see whales, turtles, sealion, dolphins and other cetaneans. Duration of the tour: 2h30. We then get back to Mancora. Night in hotel.

Day 11 - 13Relax

Relax and enjoy…

Day 14Back to Lima

Transfer to Tumbes or Piura to fly back to Lima in the afternoon. On arrival in Lima, you meet one of our staff members and transfer to the hotel. Night at the hotel.

Day 15Return home and/or Lima city tour

Transfer to the airport. International flight.
If your flight departs at night, we recommend you spend the day on our City Tour, where we take you to discover an authentic Lima.

Trip notes

City to city transfers in comfortable touristic buses: restroom on board, heating, air conditioning, and reclining seats.
If your international flight arrives in Lima in the morning, please note that the room is available from 3 pm. You can then leave your luggage in the hotel luggage storage for free, but you cannot enter the room before the check-in time. In this case we recommend to include a room available from the moment of your arrival, with an extra cost.

Whales watching: the appropriate season is from mid-July to end of October.

As from the arrival in Peru, the passenger is responsible for any additional costs caused by a variation in the program (net cost plus agency rights).
