Argentina – North 16 days

Argentina is a very huge country, through this tour we’ll take you into the beautiful northern regions. We’ll start from the capital city, unique in Latin America, so European and cosmopolitan at the same time, exciting and surprising, rich in faces, sounds and anecdotes. Then we’ll head to Rosario, the hometown of Che, a socially involved city and then we’ll go towards the northern regions plenty of nature: “Los Esteros de Iberà” the natural habitat of capybaras, deer, crocodiles and the marvelous Iguazù waterfalls where the water and the sky melt. So amazing!

Argentina – North 16 days

1º day: Arrival in Buenos Aires and city tours

International flight. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. We’ll accompany you to an hike in the center of Buenos Aires, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We’ll go to the Recoleta district, we’ll visit the renowned cemetery where there are the graves of Argentinian historical personalities, such as Evita Peron, then we’ll visit Plaza de Mayo, the Casa Rosada and the bohemian district of Sant Elmo. Night in hotel.

2º day: La Boca

In the morning, together with the guide, by public means of transport, we’ll discover one of the most charming and beautiful district of the capital, La Boca, the arrival place of the emigrants – specially Italians – that a century ago reached Argentina.
We’ll visit the beautiful Marjan Grum Atelier and then we’ll visit two cooperatives that help the population and are the meeting and exchange point between La Boca neighbors, their main values the solidarity and the social compromise.
We’ll visit “ Eloísa Cartonera”, a cooperative that uses the paper collected on the roads by the “cartoneros” to create handmade Latin America literature books; then we’ll meet a cooperative specialized in the production of the typical handmade Argentinian biscuits called “Porteñitos” and that employ many young people living in the district. Night in hotel.

3º day: Solidarity in Buenos Aires

A whole solidarity day: we’ll work in group at an association that deal with foods, a “Food bank” that helps more than 400 organizations in the whole Argentina.
During the morning we’ll spend about two hours classifying the products that has been not put in the market for their appearance defects but they’re good for consumption. At lunch we’ll visit and sustain the project Las Manitos, where we’ll meet Rosa, the responsible and meantime the cook, who will explain us the difficult history of this periphery district and we’ll also meet the young people that attend the center. It’ll be a very strong, human and interesting visit at the same time.

4º day: Arrival in Rosario and city tour

In the morning bus to Rosario ( 4 hours trip). Lunch at “Encuentro”, a women cooperative where the protagonists will tell us their history and their struggles, from the Argentinian crisis in 2000/2001 to the birth of the fair trade shop and the solidarity hostel. In the afternoon city tour in Rosario, by foot or by ecological bamboo bikes. Night at La Posada los Soles that sustain the cooperative “Encuentro”.

5º day: Rosario and social projects

In the morning we’ll visit the district of San Francisquito where we’ll know the social-organizational experiences of the district community. We’ll visit the parish, the civil association “Casa de Todos”, El Galpón (waste recycle) and the school Maria Madre.
It’ll be a unique experience of sustainable tourism, discovering Rosario and a hidden, human and authentic Argentina. In the afternoon, we can –optionally– board a little sailboat sailing along the Paranà, the river that cross the city, we can relax and admire Rosario from the water, a different perspective. Night at La Posada los Soles.

6º day: Do-it-yourself day in Rosario

Free day in Rosario and in the night first class bus trip from Rosario to Mercedes (about 11 hours), destination Esteros de Iberà, a wonderful natural park unknown to the mass tourism.

7º day: Esteros de Iberà

Transfer by private transport mean from Mercedes to Colonia Pellegrini. We’ll finally reach Esteros de Iberà, a natural reserve, an dreamy place, the second biggest quagmire in the world with its incredible biodiversity.
It’s one of the biggest soft water reservoir of Latin America, lagoons surrounded by vegetation, a natural habitat for 300 birds’ species, 85 mammals’ species, 45 amphibious’ species and 35 reptiles’ species.
In the afternoon we’ll have a first trip by boat, discovering Iberà. Night in a posada.

8º day: Sailing along the lagoon

There’s no better way to discover Esteros de Iberà than sailing along it. We’ll cross the Iberà lagoon, we’ll sail along the coasts searching for deer, capybara and crocodiles. In the afternoon we’ll walk along a path with the hope to see the “carayà” monkeys, deer and different type of trees of this region. Night in a Posada.

9º day: Horseback riding

Horseback riding near the Ecotouristic Posada where we’re lodging. A local “gaucho” with his family will take accompany us telling us the history of the region, they know very well this area and they will invite us into their us. Night in a Posada.

10º day: Travelling in the forest

Private transport from Colonia Pellegrini to Virasoro and public bus from there to Posadas (1 hour). Night in hotel.

11º day: Arrival in Iguazù

Transfer from Posadas to Iguazù. Along the trip, with other tourists, we’ll discover San Ignacio Minì, that were one of the 30 missions founded by Jesuits in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay during the European colonization in America.
In 1732 more than 140 thousand people were living into the missions, the majority of them were guaranì native indigenous. The most important aspect of these missions were the innovative social utopia, a brand new pacific cohabitation that in more than one century gathered positive results. Arrival in Iguazù in the late evening. Night in hotel with pool.

12º day: Iguazù waterfalls and Guaranì people

Whole free day, we suggest you to visit the Iguazù waterfalls from the Brazilian border, as it’s the most famous sightseeing. In the afternoon we’ll meet the community guaranì, we’ll walk along their paths into the jungle. We’ll discover their traditions in respect of nature and of their ancestral knowledge that is transmitted from generation to generation. At the end of the hike, they’ll show us how to make a necklace with the jungle seeds, it’ll be a beautiful moment to meet and share the knowledge between the community and the visitor. Night in hotel with pool.

13º day: Do-it-yourself day

Whole free day, we suggest you to visit the Iguazù waterfalls from the Argentinian border. We suggest to take a bus from the station in the early morning. You’ll enter from the most famous sightseeing, through footbridges and three different tracks, the lower, the upper and Garganta del Diablo.
You’ll have the possibility of different activities, among them the most famous and popular is boarding a semi rigid rubber dinghy to appreciate the waterfalls strength closely, an unforgettable emotion.
Get ready to soak from the head to the foot. Night in hotel with pool.

14º day: Return to Buenos Aires

Transfer to the airport, flight from Iguazù to Buenos Aires. Pick up a the airport and transfer to the hotel.

15º day: Milongas and Tango

Whole free day in Buenos Aires. In the evening we’ll know one the most characteristic symbol of Argentina, the tango. We’ll have a preparatory lesson and then we’ll immerse ourselves into the most classical bars of the district and into the “milongas”, where the porteños, people living there, love to dance and get excited until late at night. Night in hotel.

16º day: Departure

Transfert to the airport and international flight out of Buenos Aires.

If the length of your vacation isn’t the same as the length of our tour, write us! Together, we’ll draw up an itinerary that suits you. Remember that our tours don’t have fixed departure dates; you decide when to travel !!!

Please note the following:
- Transfer from city to city by high quality public bus: toilet, heating, air conditioning and very reclining seats.
- During the visit to project “Las manitos” we and you are guests. We pray you to ask permission to take photos; moreover it’s strictly forbidden to give gifts or sweets to the children. Any donation should be given directly to the directress or the project responsible. In order to respect the tranquility and the normal course of the activities into the home families, the agency has the right to gather all the tourists that travel in the same period, during the tour in Buenos Aires area.

- The project fee will be destinated to the Food Bank and to the project “Las Manitos”.
- From your arrival in Argentina onward, any additional cost due to variation of the program will be charged (net cost plus agency fee).
