Titicaca Lake’s communities 3 days
Discover Titicaca Lake, the Uros and Taquile Islands, and the Huayllano community. Here you’ll meet an authentic reality of the community tourism: more than 20 local families collaborate and organize themselves for this new type of tourism… The community management allows that all tourism profits can be shared into all the families of Huayllano community, in order to avoid that they could remain few private people’s prerogative…

Private tour: departure date at your choice!
1º day: Arrival in Puno
Pick-up at the train or bus terminal. In the evening, between 7.00 and 8.00 pm meeting in hotel with a representative of the Huayallano community. Night in hotel.
2º day: Titicaca lake
At 7:30 a.m., the Huayllano community representative will come pick us up at the hotel. From there, we’ll go to the harbor to get in one of the community’s boats of Taquile and we’ll discover the Titicaca Lake. First, we’ll visit the floating Uros Islands, north of Puno bay.
Next, we’ll head to Taquile, the lake’s biggest island, where we’ll dock at a small harbor near Huayllano. The Huayllano families will show us the island’s ancestral traditions; as their guests, we’ll eat their typical dishes and, for a night, live like real “comuneros”.
In the evening, we’ll have dinner with our host family. Night in the host family’s home.
3º day: Taquile Island
After breakfast, we’ll have time to explore the bay’s surroundings, the beach and some archeological ruins. Then, we’ll walk to Taquile town, where we’ll have lunch. After lunch, we’ll walk down to the harbor and return to Puno, arriving around 6 p.m. Night in hotel.

The collective management of earnings in Huayllano allows tourism to benefit all the families, not just a few private parties.
On Taquile, the house are very simple and the services basic. On Taquile, the houses are very simple and the services basic. The rooms are pretty and welcoming, and don’t worry about the cold; your hosts will provide blankets and the bathroom is generally near the house.
The project contribution goes to Huayllano community.
