Day 2 & 3

Around 7.30am, after breakfast, we will go to the port to embark a private boat to navigate on the Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world. First, we will visit the floating island of Uros located in the north of the bay of Puno. Subsequently we will head for Taquile, the biggest island of the lake. We’ll berth in the northern part and from there we’ll be transferred to the port of Huayllano. The families of the community living in this splendid bay agree on alternating their duties: accommodate the passengers, prepare lunches, and make their hosts discover customs and ancestral traditions of the island. In the evening we will have dinner with the family that accommodates us and we’ll spend the night in the family’s house. The following day, after breakfast, we will explore the outskirts of the bay, the beach and some archeological ruins. Then we will have a walk till the small village of Taquile where we will have lunch. Finally we will walk down to the port and return to Puno around 6.00 pm.
