How can we shortly describe Peru Etico travelling spirit and philosophy???
1) Solidarity
Peru is really a wonderful and authentic country, its people, its markets and its incredible landscapes. Besides it’s also a very poor country where the majority of the families live with a salary of 150 Euros per month, where extreme richness and marginalization coexist. Health care and education are often like a mirage for a lot of people. Peru Etico believes that tourism can really help a lot, it can be a knowledge and cultural enrichment mutual mean for travelers and also for local populations, through which some projects that need help can be economically supported.
For this reason, every Peru Etico tour includes a “project fee”, through which we support the children’s home, abandoned children and/or differently-abled children (Ceprof, Hogar de lasEstrellas and MosoqRuna). The collected funds are used for training courses, nurses or professionals engagement, medical expenses, drama therapy and so on.
We also took our philosophy to Mexico and to Argentina; all our tours take care of children, rural communities, the cooperatives, the children’s home, the after-school centers and so on. In this way, we’ll show you also the other side of the country that you’ll visit.
2) Transparency
All our tours - in Peru, Mexico and in Argentina, individual or group tours and some of our local tours – include the visit to the supported project, allowing to meet the project and the people that you decided to support. The visit to the children’s home consists in sharing space and time with the children. You’ll lunch together with them and the project’s responsible will tell you about all the great work that there is in these lively projects.
Otherwise with the “Fair tours”, you’ll enter the artisans’ home that make their handicrafts with alpaca wool, ceramic and medicinal plants; you’ll eat with them, lodge in their house, they will tell you about their work and their life.
PeruEtico closely monitors all the supported projects, staying side by side with the collaborators and the children all year long, checking all the micro-projects in real time.
3) Comfort
Readymade tours but flexible or customized… it’ll be like travelling with friends… you have only to prepare the baggage, we’ll take care of all the rest… comfortable, isn’t it?
4) Safety and local assistance
During your trip you’ll always be in contact with Italians that live locally, so in case of delays, strikes or if you feel sick we can attend you immediately. For the assistance, you don’t need to make any complicate phone call to Italy.. we’re ready to help you!
5) Ecology
When possible we’ll avoid to use the car and allow you to have a wonderful walk, right?? Moreover, we’ll take you to family-run restaurants, in order to promote the consumption of the typical local products (0km). Besides, the hotels or lodges that we selected for you are the ones with the less water and energy consumption.
6) Local economy promotion
All our guides or cultural intermediaries are locals: they are the only ones that can tell you about their city or region. Same philosophy for the selection of the hotels – warm and family-run- or for the local restaurants (discovering the typical regional foods!!).
7) Culture
Our tours focus on rediscover and enhance the local popular legends and stories, an authentic knowledge of the country and valorize the cultural differences, direct lodging at local communities (Taquile and Cuyo Grande/Chico in Peru, Pueblos Mancomunados in Mexico and so on), use of public means to promote a direct contact with the local population.
8) Economical equity
Fair and equitable working and salary conditions for all our collaborators.
Other characteristics of our tours:
PeruEtico offer group tour with fixed dates (usually in August) and individual departure dates (ideal for honeymoon tour or small groups of friends) 365 days per year. For those who’d like a “do it yourself” tour, without a ready organized program, we can offer also local tours in all Peruvian regions.
You have two transport alternatives when traveling with us:
Public buses (high-quality, with super-reclining seats, DVDs and toilet), these buses help you save on the total tour price.
