From 2006 to 2007, travelers paid their project contributions – included in every PeruEtico trip – upon their arrival in Cusco, Peru. At the end of the year, PeruEtico consulted the people in charge of the selected projects, identified their most urgent needs, and then gave them the money raised.
Starting in 2008, with the birth of the PeruEtico Italia Association, things changed. Now, travelers deposit their project contributions directly into the Italian bank account of the PeruEtico Italia Association, and we choose the micro-projects – still in agreement with the people in charge of the Children’s Homes – at the beginning of each year.
Below are the micro-projects we financed during our first two years of activity. For projects from 2008 on, consult the PeruEtico Italia Association’s website directly.
2006
In 2006, PeruEtico raised $15,700, which went to the following micro-projects:
Mosoq Runa
We organized the money’s usage with the project’s representative: Ada Stevanja, Director and Administrator (mosoqruna@hotmail.com)
This year, the funds were used in the construction and startup of two workshops: ceramics and sewing. The workshops, started in January 2006, are not just for the children from the Home, but also for those from the neighborhood.
Through project contributions, $7,720 was raised in 2006.
CEIMDA Huaro
We organized the money’s usage with the project representatives: Camila Chavez, Project Director (info@piccolalocanda.com), and Phyllis Tepperman (lila13@infonegocio.net.pe), President of the Magie delle Ande Association.
The money raised this year was used to cover all 2006 medical expenses.
Part of the money will be spent in the construction of a cement sidewalk around the school and a small playground in the courtyard.
Through project contributions, $5,890 was raised in 2006.
Hogar de las Estrellas
We organized the money’s usage with the project representative: Nieves Medina Torres, Project Director (h_estrellas@yahoo.es )
The money raised went towards the Villa Salvación Project, in Manu National Park, and will be used to buy and install aluminum roofs for the volunteers’ house, the children’s house, and the bathrooms.
Through project contributions, $2,090 was raised in 2006.
2007
In 2007, the Piccola Locanda Family – PeruEtico, Piccola Locanda and Osteria della Locanda – raised $6,718 for the following projects:
Mosoq Runa
We organized the money’s usage with the project’s representative: Ada Stevanja, Director and Administrator (mosoqruna@hotmail.com)

CEIMDA Huaro
We organized the money’s usage with the project representatives: Camila Chavez, Project Director (info@piccolalocanda.com), and Phyllis Tepperman (lila13@infonegocio.net.pe), President of MdA Association.

Through project contributions, $2,244 was raised in 2007.
Hogar de las Estrellas
We organized the money’s usage with the project representative: Nieves Medina Torres, Project Director (h_estrellas@yahoo.es )
The money raised was used to hire a teacher specialized in drama therapy for disabled children. In December, after six months of work, the children performed “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens in the Garcilaso Theater in Cusco, in front of more than 200 people. They were wonderful!
Through project contributions, $1,040 was raised in 2007.
August 2007 Earthquake – Chincha
Thanks to friends, ex-travelers, ex-volunteers and Italian and Peruvian associations, over the course of 2007, we raised more than $50,000 for the people affected by the August 15th earthquake in Pisco, Chincha and Ica.
We distributed the aid to Mina de Oro, Cruz Blanca and Lurin, three outlying neighborhoods of Chincha. We brought rice, pasta, sugar, salt, milk, tuna, potatoes, medicine, diapers, blankets and plastic to build shelters. A total of four trips, more than 50 tons of goods and materials… an unforgettable experience.
